Should the transport of oil, both crude and refined by super tanker ships, be banned?

Hey guys, this is a question I need to know for a test coming up. Please answer with yes or no and a few points explaining why.

If you don't understand the question too well. I'll break it up for you. (I know, it's worded a little weird)

';Should the transport of oil be banned?';

That's what it's really asking, but its naming two other types:

';both crude'; (1)

';and refined by super tanker ships'; (2)Should the transport of oil, both crude and refined by super tanker ships, be banned?
From the perspective of a person who might worry about the future of a spill I would say ,,,';HECK YEA';...

but now that i have that out of my system i might take a more logical look at the problem we face...

Our energy system is not one that can be cut off by isolationism. Let take for instance the International oil that is traded to Japan. Japan has no oil production but does have a great need how do they get theirs? WE ship it to them. Most all the crude that leaves the North slopeof Alaska goes to another country..Why ? well we owe them money and because we can derive capital and if they will pay more than you or I the oil guys will sell it to the higher bidder.

Thats the tip of the iceburg for the trade market value for oil. When every one needs a product it just naturally costs more to get it...That's the way capitalism works..Now if we were to ban the transfer of oil to another part of the world by SUPER-TANKER then we would be cutting off the arm that actually feeds us...The ST is by far the easiest most efficient method,,,not including pipeline, to transfer oil. Also since the seas would be full of smaller boats using more energy it would just drive the cost up to do the same job.

So in Effect my answer is ';NO WAY';...We just need the transfer capabilty to stabilize the energy business and to obtain the balance that Global energy consumption has created...If i knew of a way right now to cut the strings with all countries and establish a way to maintain a stable economy AND create energy along the way...I would jump up and down untill the world took notice ...Sorry i cannot do any of these.. Wish you well on your test....From the E...
