Why doesn't the U.S. refine all of it's own oil?

Why do we send millions of barrels of oil to the mideast to be refined and then buy it back at a premium?





Why not just refine our oil own oil into gasoline?


Wouldn't that make the price of gas really low?

America does not have enough refineries. Democrats voted against building refineries.





99% of Republicans supported a law for allowing refineries to be built and 92% of Democrats voted against it.





Currently, America is importing gasoline because there are not enough refineries in America. That is a national security issue.
